We are sorry to have to cancel our event on 5th July at Marlow.
In light of the current plans laid out by the British Government and the lack of clarity around mass gatherings/large group sizes and the recent announcement from British Triathlon Federation, we sadly have no choice but to cancel The Fugitive Triathlon on 5th July.
We have been monitoring the government and British Tri websites over the last few weeks and months. British Triathlon's suspension of event permits has been extended to at least 4th July. We understand that the next significant update from the UK Government will also be on 4th July. With our event falling on 5th July it might be permitted but this would not leave you with enough time to prepare properly for the event. We are also aware that many of you have signed up for middle distance events and, without the ability to properly train for the swim, we would be running a bigger risk than normal on the day.
We have spent the last few months designing a socially distanced event in line with the British Tri advice and are confident the we have the capacity to do that well for our future events. However, given the timeframe and uncertainty around the July event, we feel it would be irresponsible to continue to hold on.
