Henley On Thames - Shiplake College Triathlon - May 29th Results.

Congratulations to everyone that took part in the Shiplake College, Henley on Thames Triathlon today.

It was great to see so many first time triathletes taking part, plus regulars on the triathlon events circuit competing for overall places.

With waves of circa 16 participants being set off, it made for safe, but competitive racing. The outdoor heated swimming pool made a good start to the event with just over 100 metre run the transition area through the college grounds.

Out on to the bike saw athletes take a very simple out and back bike course that allowed everyone to keep an on each other and gain those vital seconds before heading out on to the run.

The run meandered through the Shiplake College grounds, down the steep hill to the river bank where participants completed an out and back course before heading back through the college grounds and onto the finish in front of the cricket pavilion. Sorry if the hill was steeper than expected and hope that all the hill training came in handy!!!

The next F3 Event to take place is the very popular Triathlon Plus Mid Week Triathlon at Dorney Lake on June 15th, and regularly sees 250 participants make full use of the 2012 Olympic Rowing Venue.

If you are looking for one of the premier events along the Thames Valley, we would highly recommend the Marlow Sprint River Triathlon, and NEW for 2011, the Olympic Distance Triathlon, which rides past Henley and part of the Challenge Henley bike course. Both these events are perfect for all levels of participant and set in the heart of the picturesque towns of Marlow on July 17th.

THAMES OPEN WATER SWIM SERIES 2011 - OPEN FOR ENTRIES

With the success of the individual swimming events in 2010, F3 Events have teamed up with WaterAid and the RNLI to run an open water swim series along the River Thames in 2011. Open Water Swimming has transformed swimming as a sport and has created opportunities for participants to swim in locations that previously would not be open.

With a number of years experience in organising open water swimming events, F3 Events and WaterAid are proud to be partnering up together to bring these safe, professionally organised swim locations that are open to everyone, whatever swimming ability they have.

The locations have been specifically chosen, not only for their natural beauty, but also to provide maximum participant and spectator value. Friends and family members will be able to walk along the banks for the River Thames and Dorney Lake, and watch the whole event unfold and cheer on the participants.

There are distances for everyone to take part in from 750m, 1500m, 1.9km, 3km, 3.8km and soon to be announced a 5km distance. Anyone that enters the 3.8km can also upgrade, to the 5km distance at anytime.

F3 Events was the first events company to use these locations and the popularity of the events has seen over 300 entries for the series already.

Entries close two weeks before the events, which are set to sell out fast – especially the Royal Windsor Swim, which is a week before the Windsor Triathlon, as it navigates the same course and is a great warm up for the event.

The confirmed dates for the events are June 5^th – Royal Windsor Swim, Saturday July 16^th – Marlow River Swim, Saturday August 20^th – BIG SOUTH Eton Swim and Saturday September 3^rd – Henley On Thames River Swim

Mid Week Eton Sprint Triathlon Series @ Dorney Lake

Now with the season in full swing and multisport participants turning there winter training to a summer of triathlons, we want to make sure you know about some of the great events, which F3 Events are organising. As the original events business to put on a mid week triathlon series, we have seen the events grow and grow over recent years.

With Dorney Lake as the Official Venue for the Rowing in next years Olympics there will literally be only this summer to swim in the fresh, clean and very safe waters of Dorney Lake, near Eton.

May 18th is the first event in the series, followed by an event each month to keep you fit, race sharp and provide an opportunity for some of you to take part in an event without having to juggle family commitments.

Being a mid week event, we are limited to only 250 places, which always fill up and one of the reasons why if the discount offered if you enter ALL four events over the summer.

Usually £180, Four Entries will cost £150 to all Four Events. Yes a large saving of £30 on the series.

Anyone looking to still enter the Chiltern Little Dipper and Chilterns BIG Dipper Sportive on April 17th - Entries are still open, there was just a small glitch on the entry button, which has now been fixed. Please let others know..

We do have some places still available for the Chilterns Dipper Sportive - both the 100km and 100mile distances taking place on April 17th, near Henley on Thames at Shiplake College.

The Results are not live for all last weekends events with a brief report on the events.

The results are still provisional and timings for the sportive are still be sorted out, but are up online and ready to view.
