DETAILS
The Royal Berkshire Festival of Sport encompasses everything about sport and F3 Events is organising one of the largest open water swimming and triathlon events in the South of England.

Together with the adult events there is a large focus on delivering junior and kid's events, which are a great way to get the whole family into taking part in sport and exercise.

It is also a great way to spend time outdoors and possibly raise money for a charity of your choice.

The Royal Berkshire Festival of Sport takes place exactly one year after the London Olympic Games. The Venue is also one of the iconic venues of the games, where many British Athletes achieve medals and goals.

Open water swimming has taken off in the past 5 years with lots of locations around the UK now opening up for Open Water Swim Training where keen swimmers can get out of the swimming pool and into the great outdoors.

The water at Dorney Lake is extremely clear and very clean and fresh. The complete swim route will be marked by large yellow swim bouys, which must be kept to your right shoulder when passing.

As with all of the F3 Events comprehensive water safety cover will be provided to attend to all swimmers needs and requirements during the event. If at anytime a participant is not happy about continuing the event and wishes to pull out of the event, the water safety cover will be there to assist.

Participants can enter the very popular 1.25km distance, 2.5km distance, 5.0km distance or full Olympic 10km distance - which is also known as the marathon swim.

Every participant will receive a Numbered Swim Cap (which must be used for the event), plus a bespoke finishers medal specific to the event on the day.

Dorney Lake provides and offers some of the best spectator friendly positions for any event in the UK and due to event being completely closed to all traffic and on a private location, it allows for the safest possible environment for an open water swimmer to complete a chosen goal or challenge.

With the venue being exclusively used for the Royal Berkshire Festival of Sport, traffic can come and go freely, with ample car parking, a large event village, with access to the Dorney Lake Boathouse with Facilities or Showers, Toilets and Changing before and after your event.

There is also the Official Retail Village where you can chat, get advice and make any pre or post event purchases.

Specific to the 10km Open Water Olympic Swim is the feed stations during the swim, plus the post event Olympic Marathon Swimmers Recovery Area where you can refuel and relax.

WETSUIT RULES
All the triathlon events are operated under the guidelines of the British Triathlon Federation, which is the governing body for triathlon the UK.

99% of the time, wetsuits have to be worn with F3 Events due to the temperature of the water, generally in the UK and Thames Valley most of the water is between 14 degree Celsius & 22 degrees Celsius. The temperature of the water is always taken at least one hour before an event to determine if wetsuits must be worn.
